Our Championship Golf Course

Holding a special place in his accomplished portfolio of successful designs, De Zalze’s Golf Couse is one of 17 courses designed by Peter Matkovich to rank in the SA Top 100 Golf Courses as of 2024.

Threading together magnificent views, the riverine and sweeping mountain scenery, Matkovich aimed to draw from the natural, beautiful piece of land and design a course that tests elite players all whilst being both enjoyable and challenging for ordinary golfers.

Citing that land and nature must determine the shape, style and direction of play, Matkovich has designed our 13th hole to represent just that: a remarkable hole where golfers can enjoy picturesque views of the Helderberg mountain range and play across the water.

Arguably one of the most photographed holes on our course, the 18th hole also tests golfers both elite and amateur.

With a big tree rooted in the middle of play, one must learn to live up to the challenge.

Enjoyable to every level of golfer, our course offers variety in the sense of uphill playing, downhill playing, along with changes in directions, bearing in mind the way the wind blows.

Always open to making improvements, the De Zalze Golf Course has kept looking for ways of making the course more enjoyable over the past two decades.

And, as of today, many a visitor would testify that De Zalze is the course that they can’t wait to come and play it again – just as the club’s members never tire of a layout which keeps providing challenges and enjoyment, no matter how often they play it.
