A Sense of Championship
Celebrating more than two decades in existence, we pride ourselves in offering a wide variety of members events, exciting fixtures and more to obtain a sense of championship amongst all.
Ever since the appointment of driving force Ivan Palframan as the first Chairman of De Zalze Golf Club in 2005, we have come a long way to paint a rich history of successful tournaments and other significant golf events to be hosted at our Championship Course.
From the Club’s first Western Province Men’s Amateur Championships to be held in December 2003, to the first Presidential Golf Challenge in February 2005, and the recent Vodacom Origins of Golf Sunshine Tour tournament in August 2021 – we boast in the rich history of the Club and the magnificent stories these grounds have to tell.
Over the course of the past decades, many of the Club’s successors has had to overcome numerous obstacles to pave the way for De Zalze Golf Club to be crowned one of the SA Top 100 Courses.
Now, firmly established among the best 30 golf courses in the country as of 2022, we can proudly celebrate being referred to as striking in the varying range of holes, scenery and superb conditioning of our course.
In the words of our course designer, Peter Matkovich, the De Zalze Golf Course has stood the test of time: “The biggest tribute is when a guy finishes playing your golf course and says he can’t wait to come and play it again.”

Take a Walk With Us
Celebrating a rich history, the origins of our championship golf course dates back to the mid-1990s when renowned golf course designer Peter Matkovich was first commissioned to design an 18-hole course stretching over three farms on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. With courses such as the Steenberg Golf Course in Cape Town and Arabella near Kleinmond under the belt, Matkovich was eager to turn De Zalze Golf Estate into a golfing experience like no other.
